Games by Robert Kiyosaki
The personal financial education games created by Robert Kiyosaki are based on the ideas in his Rich Dad Poor Dad series of books.
There are three games:
- Cash Flow 101
- Cash Flow 202
- Cash Flow for Kids
I have played 101 many times and found it to be of great value.
Cash Flow 101
This game sets you the task of building your passive income until it covers all your living expenses. Then you ‘escape the rat race’. It is best played with at least two people and the idea is to cooperate and learn from each other rather than to make each other bankrupt.
You keep a tally of your personal financial position as you buy and sell assets during the game. So the game attempts to teach accounting, finance and investing all at the same time.
It is the ideas in the game that are most value. It is not a game about how exactly to go about property or stock investment.
Cash Flow 202
You need to have the 101 game before you play this, as it is an add-on. It covers various stock investing techniques such as short selling, put and call options, and straddles.
Cash Flow for Kids
This is a simpler version of Cash Flow 101 but it teaches the same ideas. It is also less costly than 101. Cash Flow 101 is recommended for ages 14 and up although a younger child could play if interested, teamed up with an adult.
The great thing about Cash Flow 101 is that it can be played many times over. If you find the ideas in Robert Kiyosaki’s books of interest then it’s worth taking a look at the games too.
